stock market... wealth or woe
If you invested in the stock market when it started in the 1700s and held it until now you would have multiplied your money. Because this was true for 300 years people think the stock market is the best investment. But what has the stock market done to the environment which is the source of all wealth? Corporations have cut down all the trees in Europe and the United States. Corporations have used metals, soil, and water so unsustainably and scientists are predicting a collapse soon. So the stock market deteriorated the wealth of the United States and put all the wealth in the hands of the top one percent. But really, what wealth is left? The cars and computers are unsustainable. The soil is eroding. The water is getting polluted. The stock market might have enriched a small portion of the population on paper, but it has harmed the environment so much which is the natural basis for wealth that it is not a good investment for humanity.
